Recent Renovations and Upgrades
The athletics track underwent a significant repair in 2014, with initial costs reaching ₱100,000. However, due to the high volume of sporting events held at the venue, further rehabilitation was needed. In October 2015, the sports complex temporarily closed for renovations, culminating in a ₱18 million upgrade by December 2015. As part of this project, the athletics track was rubberized, its lanes were repainted, and the football field was upgraded to a new type of Bermuda grass. These improvements have helped solidify the complex’s reputation as a premier sports facility in the region.
Home to Iloilo’s Football Teams
The Iloilo Sports Complex has also become a key venue for football. The Iloilo F.A. football team regularly plays home matches here, and in February 2018, Kaya Futbol Club made the complex their home ground. The Philippines Football League, managed by Liga Futbol Inc., approved the use of the field for Kaya FC’s league matches starting on April 20, 2018. This solidified the complex’s role in supporting local football and the broader sports community.
